Monday, December 4th: Beach Boys – Help Me, Rhonda
Co-founder of the Beach Boys, Dennis Wilson, was born Dec. 4, 1944. He’d be 79 today. He died in 1983 at only 39 years old. Dennis played the drums and sang baritone backing vocals for the Beach Boys. He was also the middle brother of Brian and Carl Wilson.
Tuesday, December 5th: Little Richard – Good Golly Miss Molly.
Little Richard was born this day in 1932 as Richard Wayne Penniman. He’s credited as the “Architect of Rock and Roll”. He’s in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Songwriter’s Hall of Fame, received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
Wednesday, December 6th: Wings – Mull of Kintyre
In honour of a wonderful musician/singer/songwriter who passed away today, Denny Laine. He was an original member of Wings, and was the initial lead vocalist for the Moody Blues. Denny died of lung disease at age 79.
Thursday, December 7th: Toni Braxton – Unbreak My Heart
This tune hit #1 in the charts on this day in 1996. Written by Diane Warren, she had to convince Toni to record this song. Toni didn’t have a single care for the tune, saying she didn’t want another “heartbreak track.” She went on to record what would become her biggest single.
