NANAIMO — A quick response from Nanaimo Fire Rescue (NFR) helped limit the damage of a fire at a property on Canoe St. in south Nanaimo.
NFR Cpt. Scott Mitrenga told NanaimoNewsNOW on scene a shed quickly erupted in flames on the afternoon of Wednesday, Sept. 13.
“We had a storage shed/fish smoker that caught on fire next to a house, the sheds a total loss. Minor damage to the house, no injuries.”
Eight firefighters aboard a pair of fire engines responded to the fire, which was reported at about 12:50 p.m.
Mitrenga stated it’s unclear how the fire started.
“We’ll just wet it down thoroughly and make sure nothing pops up.”
Firefighters will remain on scene for part of the afternoon digging through hot spots.
