My Time at Coastal Community
My name is Kylene, I work as a home insurance agent out of our Duncan and Chemainus branches. I have worked for Coastal for the past 4.5 years
Please tell us about the organization you volunteer with and what you do and why this organization is important to you.
I volunteer for Foster Kritters Feral Cat Rescue society on bottle drives when I can. I have homed 4 rescue cats myself and I am a huge sucker for all things feline.
Why is volunteering important to you?
It gets you in the community, you meet new people with common interests and make new friends! Plus, you learn new things about the organization you are volunteering for and all of the behind-the-scenes things that you don't see on a regular basis.
Which organization are you directing your winning funds to and why?
Foster Kritters Feral Cat Rescue; they love and care for the lost and forgotten. Through fundraising efforts and donations alone they pay for massive vet bills to help the kitties lead a better pain free lives. They place feral kittens in foster homes to help ease them into life and learn how to trust humans plus so much more. I 100% believe this organization is making a difference in our community!

Pharmasave Ladysmith is celebrating the generosity of its amazing customers and staff, who came together for the TP Challenge in support of the Ladysmith Food Bank!
Thanks to their kindness and hard work, the community donated over 1,200 rolls of toilet paper—more than 24 cases of Pharmasave’s finest! This incredible effort is a true reflection of Ladysmith’s strong community spirit. No TP hoarders here—just big hearts making a big impact!
Pharmasave Ladysmith extends a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to this important cause.

It was a Coastal Community employee who saw a need to support the Children's Health Foundation of Vancouver Island. An unexpected healthcare emergency required that they travel to Victoria to get the help they needed. They were able to stay at Jeneece Place where their family had everything they needed to get through a very tough time. They shared their story with Coastal Community, resulting in our partnership with the Foundation over many years.
By supporting the Children's Health Foundation of Vancouver Island, we can help lessen the financial burden families face in a healthcare emergency.
This $200,000 donation was made possible by our Sharing Our Success program, where we distributed $1.6 million in one-time special funding to charitable organizations across Vancouver Island. Recipients received funds in late 2023 and we're starting to see how the money is helping island communities in the areas of healthcare, housing, mental health, financial education and food security.
